The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of the Lublin University of Technology was established in 1964, still at the Evening School of Engineering. In 1965, the Evening School of Engineering was transformed into the Higher School of Engineering, and from that moment on, the Faculty began education in the full-time study system, and from the academic year 1973/74 in the system of uniform master's studies.
The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science offers first- and second-degree studies in six fields: electrical engineering, computer science, multimedia engineering, engineering applications of computer science in electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, and mechatronics. Currently, the Faculty educates over 2.5 thousand students. The Faculty offers postgraduate studies and courses in specialties that meet the current needs of business entities in the region.
In parallel with its teaching activities, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science conducts research in two scientific disciplines: automation, electronics, electrical engineering and space technologies, and technical informatics and telecommunications. The high level of research and the quality of the scientific staff allowed the Faculty to obtain the right to award the academic degrees of doctor and habilitated doctor.
The Faculty has an established position in the country and a good reputation in the region, as evidenced by constant cooperation with industry, economic organisations and universities in Lublin. Faculty employees include members of the Polish Academy of Sciences in the Committee of Electrical Engineering, Section of High Power, Section of Power Systems and Section of Optoelectronics.
Research and teaching activities are carried out in the main building of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, the Centre for Innovation and Advanced Technologies, the Centre for Information Technology and Technical Linguistics (CENTECH), the CoE Asspect and the "Pentagon" building.
