Dr hab. inż. Paweł Węgierek, university professor, was born on 6 June 1967 in Skarżysko-Kamienna. He obtained the title of Master of Electrical Engineering in the specialty of power engineering at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Lublin University of Technology in 1992. Immediately after graduation, he started working at the Department of Electrical Equipment and High Voltage Technology at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, currently Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Lublin University of Technology as a research and teaching employee. In 2008-2019, he was the Director of the Lublin Entrepreneurship Incubator of the Lublin University of Technology, and since September 18, 2019, he has been the Head of the University Laboratory of Innovative Measurement Techniques. From October 1, 2020, he is the Head of the Department of Electrical Equipment and High Voltage Technology.
His scientific activity is related to the use of ion techniques to modify the electrical properties of semiconductors, in particular silicon and gallium arsenide, and the study of the thermal stability of their parameters in terms of their possible use in microelectronics and photovoltaic cells. In recent years, the area of research interests also includes modern connection equipment as well as monitoring and control systems used in electricity distribution systems to improve power supply reliability and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Currently, a contractor, in the role of R&D Manager or Industrial Research Coordinator, of 4 research and development projects regarding innovative solutions for professional power engineering.
Current scientific achievements include 180 items, including 64 articles in journals from the Web of Science database, 1 monograph, 1 monograph chapter, 90 papers at international and 16 national conferences, and 8 patents. According to the Web of Science database, the above works have been cited 238 times, and the Hirsch index is 9.
Author of several innovative educational programmes, creator of several laboratories, including connection equipment, computer-aided design, and innovative measurement techniques. Promoter and scientific supervisor of 1 doctorate, 3 doctoral students and over 200 diploma, master and engineering theses.
Since 2003, Member of the Lublin District Chamber of Civil Engineers, since 2015 Member of the Management Board of the Polish Society of Theoretical and Applied Electrical Engineering, Lublin Branch, since 2017 Chairman of the Council of the Lublin Eco-energetic Cluster and Technology and business expert of the National Centre for Research and Development for substantive evaluation of R&D projects in POIR, and from 2019 Representative of the National Centre for Research and Development in the area of BRIdge ALFA investment funds. Organiser and Chairman of Organising Committees of several dozen national and international scientific conferences devoted to issues in the field of electrical engineering and power engineering.
