Mobile Application Development

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of the Lublin University of Technology invites you to study at the new second degree specialisation – Mobile Application Development.

Who can study?

Graduates of Computer Science who wish to study in English and plan their future career in IT firms, especially in software development departments. This specialisation lasts for 3 semesters, 30 ECTS each, and complies with the European standards.

Under Polish law an MSc student can be a person with a first level university degree in Computer Science or similar, and meeting the additional conditions set out in http://bwm.pollub.pl/indexen.php.

What will you learn?

The Mobile Application Development students have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with three most popular mobile platforms: Android, Microsoft Windows and iOS. The course curriculum focuses on such subjects as: mobile databases, application programming for the three above-mentioned platforms, designing and modelling applications, software project management, gathering information from mobile (device) sensors, GIS and GPS usage, and many others. All students will be equipped with a broad knowledge of the most important aspects of creating IT systems for mobile devices.

The specialisation is adjusted to the current labour market needs. Its programme was prepared in cooperation with IT firms to ensure the best position of our graduates in the IT industry. The main goal of the Mobile Application Development specialisation is to prepare students for developing mobile solutions, working at programming departments and managing IT projects.

A Mobile Application Development graduate’s profile

This specialisation educates highly-qualified specialists, familiar with current standards and technologies used in mobile application development, who:

  • possess the broad knowledge and skills necessary to create software for such mobile platforms as: Android, Microsoft Windows and iOS;
  • are able to be a member of developer teams;
  • are able to manage IT projects;
  • are able to design IT systems with mobile solutions;
  • understand application projects created in UML;
  • have skills to gather data from various sensors, process and use them;
  • can design and create databases for mobile devices;
  • know how to use GIS and GPS in IT solutions.

What can you do after graduation?

The graduates enter the European market and find jobs in the IT branch as programmers, testers, analysts, project managers and many other positions related to software development.

Mobile Application Development for Environmental Monitoring

The Mobile Application Development for Environmental Monitoring students have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with three most popular mobile platforms: Android, Microsoft Windows and iOS. The course curriculum focuses on such subjects as: mobile databases, application programming for the three above-mentioned platforms, designing and modelling applications, software project management, gathering information from mobile (device) sensors, wireless sensor networks, acquisition and processing of environmental data, wide hazard monitoring systems and many other. All students will be equipped with a broad knowledge of the most important aspects of creating IT systems using mobile platforms for environment monitoring.

The specialisation is adjusted to the current labour market needs. It combines skills and knowledge from both IT and environmental areas. The main goal of the Mobile Application Development for Environmental Monitoring specialisation is to prepare students for developing mobile solutions designed for environment monitoring, and manage IT and environmental projects.

Mobile Systems and Information Networks

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of the Lublin University of Technology invites you to study at the new second degree specialisation – Mobile Systems and Information Networks.

Who can study?

Graduates of Computer science, who wish to study in English and plan their future career in IT Companies on the European market. This specialisation lasts for 3 semesters (starts in mid-February 2017), 30 ECTS each, and complies with the European standards.

What will you learn?

Our Mobile Systems and Information Networks students have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with:

  • In the area of Mobile Systems:
    • The specificity of hardware for mobile platforms.
    • The basic operating system architecture and the specificity of operating systems for mobile platforms. Support for on-board hardware resources.
    • Security of mobile systems.
    • Overview of contemporary systems, development trends and mobile systems market.
    • Practical Android and Windows application programming.
  • In the area of computer networks:
    • The practical possibilities of the configuration of network devices,
    • The dynamic routing protocols, advanced methods of switching LANs,
    • Troubleshooting in computer networks.

The profile of a Mobile Systems and Information Networks graduate:

  • The student acquires knowledge about contemporary operating systems for mobile platforms, technology and market trends. Knows how to create simple mobile applications with the use of specific tools and APIs,
  • The student gains knowledge and skills in the design and administration of computer networks.

Power and Measurement

The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science of the Lublin University of Technology invites you to study at the new second degree specialisation – Power and Measurement.

Who can study?

Graduates of Electrical Engineering who wish to study in English and plan their future career in IT firms, especially in software development departments. This specialisation lasts for 3 semesters, 30 ECTS each, and complies with the European standards.

What will you learn?

The Power and Measurement students have the opportunity to acquire not only theoretical but also practical abilities in the field of design, production, security and protection of electrical as well as electronic devices, automatics, power transmission, computer measurement systems as well as production and conversion of electrical energy, and – last not least – renewable energy sources. Graduates can apply for national entitlements of the Society of Polish Electricians in the range of maintenance, repair, service and assembly of electrical devices as well as control and measuring apparatus to 1kV.

A Power and Measurement graduate’s profile

This specialisation educates highly-qualified specialists, familiar with current standards and technologies used in electrical engineering, who:

  • possess the broad knowledge and skills necessary to be electrical engineering specialists;
  • are able to make electrical measurements;
  • are familiar with energy production systems;
  • have an expertise in the power transmission systems.

What can you do after graduation?

Thanks to their comprehensive education, the graduates can conduct design, research and development work not only in small companies but also in large industrial establishments, design offices, or laboratories. Studies at an electrical engineering course create an opportunity for fascinating studies, drawing on a reliable source of engineering knowledge and abilities, and obtaining a well-paid job either in Poland or abroad. The modern curriculum is continuously adjusted to the requirements of the knowledge-based economy. The new specialty Power and Measurement is a response to the demand of electrical and power engineering industry experts.
