Department of mathematics

The Mathematics Laboratory, the Mathematics Department, and subsequently the Department of Mathematics existed
at the University of Technology from its inception as a single organizational unit serving all faculties and fields of study. From 1985 to 1991, the Department of Mathematics, which housed all mathematicians employed at the University
of Technology,
was headed by Jan Kisyński, a full professor of mathematical sciences and member of the Polish Academy
of Sciences. Professor J. Kisyński is a member of the editorial boards of the journals Studia Mathematica and
Commentationes Mathematica, and has received numerous prestigious awards. Since 2003, he has served
as Chairman of the Committee on Mathematics at the Polish Academy of Sciences.

Professor J. Kisyński's lectures delivered at the International Center for Theoretical Physics in Trieste in 1974,
entitled "Semigroup of Operators and Some of Their Applications," were published in the International Atomic Energy Agency,
Vienna, 1976, vol. III. Between 1991 and 1994, four mathematics departments were established across all faculties
of the University. The Department of Mathematics at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering was headed by Prof. J. Kisyński until October 2003,
when this responsibility was assumed by Professor A. Bobrowski.

Since March 2021, the Department has been headed by dr hab. Zbigniew Łagodowski, university professor. Email: we.km@pollub.pl
