Research
Our research interests focus primarily on probability theory, statistics, stochastic processes, and their applications. We work on limit theorems, stochastic differential equations, and operator theory. We study, among other things, probabilistic models derived from genetics and physics.
A weekly scientific seminar at the department is dedicated to these topics.
One of our greatest achievements in recent years is the Sertum Scientificum Lubliniense 2005 scientific distinction awarded to Professor Adam Bobrowski for his book "Functional Analysis for Probability and Stochastic Processes," published by Cambridge University Press.
In March 2020, Professor Adam Bobrowski from our department received the prestigious Hugo Steinhaus Grand Prize of the Polish Mathematical Society for his achievements in applied mathematics.
In 2008, 2013 and 2018, the Department of Mathematics, together with the Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, co-organized the conference Semigroups of Linear Operators: Theory and Applications.
