Electricity Generation – What It Looks Like in Practice

13.04.2026

As part of the Electricity Generation course, second-year students of the Power Engineering programme, in addition to performing laboratory exercises, also had the opportunity to become acquainted with the operation of actual generation sources.

During the course, the students took part in a series of educational field visits, during which they were able to observe the operation of the gas-fired unit at the Wrotków Combined Heat and Power Plant, the biomass-fired unit at the Megatem Combined Heat and Power Plant, and to learn about the operation of the Kraśnik Wind Farm with a capacity of 24 MW. In addition, they had an opportunity to become familiar with the investment implementation process using the example of the wind farm under construction in Annopol with a capacity of 40 MW.

The Department of Electric Power Engineering consistently strives to combine solid theoretical foundations delivered during lectures with practical experience, which significantly facilitates students’ entry into the labour market. Particular emphasis is placed on ensuring that the knowledge acquired is not purely academic in nature, but is directly linked to real-world challenges and solutions applied in the electric power sector.

The teaching activities are complemented with practical components such as laboratory classes, study visits, and direct contact with operating energy infrastructure. As a result, students have an opportunity to confront theoretical knowledge with engineering practice, learn the operating principles of real installations, and understand the specific nature of work in the sector.

This teaching approach not only supports the development of technical competencies, but also fosters analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to make informed engineering decisions, which constitutes a significant asset in the process of building a professional career.
