The conference gathers experts in semigroup theory that are interested in studying stochastic phenomena, including these of biological origin, and is organised by Katowice and Lublin mathematical schools in turns. `KL’ in its name refers to the names of the cities, and more intrinsically, to the legacy of Jan Kisyński and Andrzej Lasota, who were the founding fathers of the schools, and close friends at the same time.
